On Freedom

Celebrating Their Service

Just a few days ago, brave men and women around the world were celebrated for their contributions to our nation’s freedom – but why should it take a day to celebrate such success? At GadsdenandCulpeper.com, we don’t believe that appreciation has an expiration date. Each and every day, we honor our veterans as well as servicemen and women of past and present that help to keep our nation safe and most importantly, free.

Don’t let Veterans Day be the only time to thank someone who has served his or her country. Instead, look to show them your gratitude by volunteering at a local VA hospital, sending thank you letters to men and women currently serving in other countries, or by simply saluting when you see a veteran you know. The gestures don’t have to be big. The point is that you make everyday a day for celebration of those brave patriots.

Let freedom ring. Celebrate the veterans in your life.

What’s a Tea Party Anyway?

The Tea Party movement started back in February 2009 when CNBC reporter Rick Santelli made statements on-air about President Obama’s housing bailout plan. The notion Santelli suggested was a play on the spirit of the 1773 Boston Tea Party, in which colonial protesters dumped tea into the harbor to protest British taxes. Soon after the statements were made, Conservative groups and leaders like former House Speaker Newt Gingrich started gathering and enacting the call to action, expanding the protest to encompass criticism of all Obama’s economic recovery efforts and his $3.6 billion budget.

Today, Tea Party participants stage protests range in scope, from those criticizing “the establishment” and the elimination of personal freedoms to those criticizing President Obama and government spending. Held around the nation, Tea Party protests usually involve private citizens of all types in Gadsden Flag or other political t-shirts and almost never feature an official political speaker.

Interested in starting a Tea Party movement in your community? Find some like-minded friends and neighbors and just do it. Remember, the first step in standing up for what you believe in is organizing.

The Birth Of Our Nation

The United States of America has a rich history that started off with one thing: rebellion. Political feuds between the British government and the American colonists came to a climax on April 19, 1775 at Lexington, Concord’s North Bridge and on the long, bloody road back to Boston. The fighting that began that day between colonial militia, British regulars, and minute men soon grew into a war for independence that lasted more than eight years. Today, it was that fight that let to our freedom as a nation.

Minute men are a key part of American history and represent so much of the ideals of freedom and liberty within the United States. Additionally, Minute Men also stand as guardians to cultural independence and the citizen responsibility that led to a revolution in American history and culture. If you enjoy freedom today, look to the Minute Men to find out where it all began.

The Makings of a Movement

When you disagree with someone, it’s important to make your feelings, thoughts, and opinions known. After all, it’s a free country, right? If you’re not a fan of what’s going on in your community, your state, or your country, you can make your voice heard. You can make an impression. You can say just how you feel. The key is to choose a method that will work without compromising the freedoms of others, especially if freedom is what you’re fighting for. At GadsdenandCulpeper.com, we’ve been around for many years to help people just like you make a statement. Here’s a few tips on what you can do when you want to make your message known:

  1. Organize. This is the first step in any successful movement. Gather together people who feel just like you do and start talking. Organize your thoughts. Start making arguments for why you believe what you believe. Make sure that this effort can really work and not just be a free-for-all.

  1. Plan. Work with your group or community to come up with ways that you can show your support or disapproval. Make sure that all of these methods are within the law of course, but don’t be afraid to get creative. Remember, you want to send a message in a way that really gets people’s attention. However, you don’t want to do it in a way that’ll leave them disinterested or even disgusted.

  1. Take action. Once you’ve planned and organize and have a well-thought course of action, it’s time to make it happen. Have a march. Send around petitions. Wear a political t-shirt. Whatever it is, just do it. Once you take action, you’ll know the next step. Be sure to listen for feedback and adapt your plan or your message accordingly.

It’s Official: Chuck Norris Supports the Gadsden Flag

According to reports from Townhall, a conservative blog, actor Chuck Norris is encouraging patriots to show their support for freedom by flying their Gadsden flags. In his recent post on the site, Norris writes:

“…I suggest you fly some revolutionary flag in lieu of your 50-star flag over the next year. Post the 13-star Betsy Ross flag, Navy Jack or Gadsden flag (”Don’t Tread on Me”) or any representation that tells the story of Old Glory and makes a stand for our Founders’ vision of America…Know a few other patriots? Then please pass along this vintage-flag-posting encouragement to them, as well, and make our Founders proud. And let’s remind the U.S. government, “Don’t tread on me!” ”

The article has received tons of feedback and is being passed around by patriots around the nation, as they continue to support a new revolutionary movement. Norris describes this movement against the government, as “patriots who are fed up against modernists who seek to overturn almost every principle and tenet laid down by our country’s Founding Fathers at the inception of our republic.”

Ready to be a patriot? Want to join the movement? Then break out your Gadsden Flag today.
